After three years as Salisbury’s ‘unofficial’ MG Rover specialist garage, the Bodytech autoservice centre has joined an international car care network for the British cars across Europe.
Bodytech helped hundreds of local MG and Rover owners with their cars after the car maker collapsed three years ago.
Now the efforts of owner Andy Downes and his team have led to accreditation as the official MG Rover Specialist centre for the area by XPart, founders of a 230-strong service network in eight countries.
He says: “It’s great news for us and all local owners. Many drivers turned to us when MG Rover closed and its dealers shut up shop. We now look after MGs and Rovers from all over the county.”
When it came to dealing with the sudden influx of ‘homeless’ cars, the 12-strong Bodytech autoservice team held a trump card: “One of our technicians had 20 years direct experience with MGs and Rovers,” says Andy.
Their appointment as an official MG Rover Specialist has enabled the Bodytech Services team to shift up another gear, with direct on-line access to advanced technical databases and factory product information.
Bodytech’s investment has included the acquisition of an MG Rover TestBook electronic diagnostic system. The company can also ‘unlock’ individual vehicles’ electronics for owners who have lost their keys or accidentally wiped car radio codes.
Andy says: “Over the years, local MG Rover dealers sold thousands of cars that are still out there. We can maintain them to factory standards, using the right tools, methods and parts. The difference is we’re more efficient and customers’ bills are smaller!”
